Letting Go after 11 years

on Mon, 2023-12-04 18:31

After 11 years on this journey of joy and learning, I am closing down my foundation, having transferred the monies into a donor advised fund. So much has happened since 2012, including grants to many organizations, 16 retreats, 100+ zoom Check-in's, 50+ Gatherings, publication of the Principle Quest Unwrapped facilitator's guide, and three Gatherings hosted at my home (sometimes it was a bit sweltering!@#)

While I am letting go of facilitating retreats, I remain deeply committed to our remarkable community of women – 150+ stong.

Riding the Waves - Gathering of Principle Quest Community June 23

on Wed, 2022-05-25 16:18

Twenty-five women came together virtually to address

how to keep a balance during such troubling and troubled times.

Connecting and discovering renewed resolve and hope for the future,

we cherished the support of this community, seeing ways to act, not just ache.

Excerpt from Amanda Gorman's poem:

“May we not just grieve, but give:
May we not just ache, but act

Maybe everything hurts,
Our hearts shadowed & strange.
But only when everything hurts
May everything change.”

Principle Quest Gathering March 2021

on Sun, 2021-03-28 20:21

In the pretense-free and welcoming community of Principle Quest, 40 of us broke into smaller groups to reflect on the wisdom of Amanda Gorman:

"There is always light if only we are brave enough to see it, if only we are brave enough to be it."

“We're not the sand that absorbs the water of the sea. You see, we are the storm, the very form of change that the world has been waiting for. A future forged forth by a future that is female!”

Inspired by the good work of Grace Institute and Carla Harris!

on Mon, 2020-10-19 15:59

Grace Institute's annual breakfast celebrates 123 years of teaching women office skills tuition-free. The Principle Quest Foundation is proud to be a supporter and champion of their work.

Here's a recording of the 2020 event  My 8 guests and I were inspired by Lisa's and Sia's moving stories about graduating from Grace Institute. Honoree Carla Harris (at 39:05 in the YouTube) gave us real hope and the incredible boost we all need to be courageous change agents!

Alabama and New York – in this together

on Sat, 2020-05-23 19:17
When three separate groups of women in the Principle Quest community traveled to Alabama last year, we were so warmly welcomed and learned so much. Now we are holding our friends in Montgomery in our thoughts as COVID19 wreaks havoc. We in New York can relate deeply, and wish you courage and good health.

Health Care Inequity – Ground Zero in Brooklyn

on Sun, 2020-04-26 12:15

Unless there is accountability, this inequity will continue to cost lives and cause trauma for the health care profesisonals who work there. Warren Buffett helps a 'rich' Manhattan hospital while no one seems to care about the dilapadated condition of this Brooklyn hospital. Politicians say too little, and federal grants are insufficient. What can one citizen do? Elect representatives who see this problem and will take action.

Edelman 2020 Trust Barometer -- New Highs for Distrust + A Call to Action

on Fri, 2020-04-10 13:02

"Distrust is being driven by a growing sense of inequity and unfairness in the system." These numbers will frighten you, and in the midst of COVID-19, you cannot help but hear an urgent call for action. Together we can make a meaningful course correction.
